If you’re dreaming of a quiet, snow-covered escape to say your vows—complete with moody skies, a frozen lake, and your pup by your side—let me tell you about this beautiful Echo Lake Beach New Hampshire elopement. This cozy winter day in Franconia Notch was proof that sometimes the most memorable love stories happen when you embrace the wild, windy, and wonderfully unpredictable.

A Quiet Cabin, a First Look, and One Very Good Boy
The day started at a nearby cabin tucked into the woods of Franconia Notch. The kind of spot that smells like pine and coffee and makes you want to wrap yourself in a wool blanket. That’s where I met up with this sweet couple (and their very excited dog, Charlie). I captured them both as they got ready for their lakeside ceremony on this moody windy day. Charlie circling with tail wags at full speed to help cheer them on.
Their first look happened right outside their cabin, with the sound of the rushing Pemi river behind them. He turned around, saw her, and the biggest grin spread across his face. It was private, simple, and full of meaning—just the way they wanted it.

A Snowy Echo Lake Beach New Hampshire Elopement Ceremony
From the cabin, we made our way to Echo Lake Beach in Franconia Notch, where their elopement ceremony took place. The wind was wild, the kind that grabs your scarf and whips it around like it’s in a movie scene, and the snow made every step feel like a tiny adventure. But Echo Lake? It was stunning with the mountain peaks ever so slightly making their appearance through the fog.
Since the lake was frozen solid and blanketed in snow, the usual summer beach vibes were swapped for soft whites, icy blues, and the dark silhouettes of mountains in the distance. For the ceremony, we tucked into a grove of trees near the beach to find a little shelter from the wind. The moment was intimate and emotional—tears traced her cheeks as they exchanged vows, and he held her hands tightly, like he was anchoring her through the storm. And their sweet officiant actually anchoring her bouquet from the winding wind.

Running Across the Frozen Lake
After the ceremony, they celebrated in the most them way: by running hand-in-hand across the frozen lake, giggling and catching their breath in the cold. Their footprints carved a path across the snow, and the mountains stood tall behind them like the ultimate wedding backdrop.
They kept each other warm with hugs and cuddles as the wind swept their hair and clothes and filled the quiet around them with rushing echos that danced between the trees.

A Cozy Winter Picnic + Lantern Stroll
Once fingers were numb and cheeks flushed, we headed to our cars for a quick warm up break as we drove to a nearby field where Charlie could run free and chase snowflakes. After that, it was time to celebrate with a winter picnic—yes, in the snow. They set up a little spot with drinks, cake, and blankets. There was wine and beer, cake and laughter, and the kind of clinking glasses that feels extra special when you’re surrounded by nothing but fresh snow and fresh love.
As the sun dipped low, we pulled out lanterns and wandered through the trees. The light was low and golden-grey, the kind of moody glow that makes winter elopements feel straight out of a storybook.

Echo Lake Elopement Inspiration
If you’ve ever wondered whether winter is “too cold” or “too tricky” for an elopement—let this day be your answer. It was beautiful because of the wind, because of the snow. This Echo Lake Beach elopement didn’t need perfect weather or a big crowd. It was quiet, real, and totally theirs.
So if you’re dreaming of an Echo Lake Beach ceremony, a Franconia Notch elopement, or simply a day that reflects who you are (boots, pup, wind-blown hair and all), I say go for it. Embrace the wild and moody weather. Bring cake. And let your love story unfold exactly how it’s meant to—snowflakes, lanterns, dog kisses and all.
